He was jointly top with English cricketer Samit Patel with 79 wickets before the game against Rangpur Riders. But eventually, he has become the record holder after the match.
By dismissing Shahriar Nafees, the Rangpur Riders batter in the first delivery of 11th over of Riders innings, he has become the highest wicket taker in T20s. He has now 84 wickets at Sher-E Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, which is the record number for a bowler in a specific venue in T20s.
Samit Patel is next to him, who has 79 wickets at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Another English orthodox spinner is in the list. Danny Briggs has taken 66 wickets so far at The Rose Bowl, Southampton, which leads him to put his name third of the chart.
To be noted, Shakib has taken his 15 out of 84 wickets in T20Is and 51 wickets from 41 BPL matches. Rest of the wickets have come out from the others franchises based T20s. The 30-year old all-rounder, has played 65 T20s at SBNCS, from where he took 84 wickets. He has four 3 wickets haul and one 5 and 4 wickets-haul respectively in his T20 career.
It can be mentioned, His 5 wickets-haul against Rangpur, has helped him to write his name to BPL history for being able to pick up 5-wicket haul in an innings as the ninth bowler after Mohammad Sami, kevon Cooper, Al-Amin Hossain, Thisara Perera, Abul Hasan, Taskin Ahmed, Afif Hossain and Hasan Ali. 1 of 1
