Rangpur Riders’ Chris Gayle has hit his second hundred in Bangladesh Premier League 2017 as he smashes 69-ball 146* against Dhaka Dynamites in the Final at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.
Gayle has now five BPL hundreds. None has hit more than one century in BPL. And he has two tons each in 2012 and 2017 editions. Overall, the Jamaican has 20 T20 hundreds.
Gayle towered 18 sixes in the innings. Not only BPL, it’s the world record of most sixes in a T20 innings. He had hit 17 sixes in the famous 175-run innings against Pune Warriors in 2013 IPL. He has hit 10 or more sixes in an innings 15 times (five of them in BPL). Only three other has hit done it twice.
The Riders opener crossed 1000 runs in BPL, the second overseas and the tenth overall to do so. He has now 1135 runs in the tournament. He also hit his 100th six in BPL. He has hit 107 sixes in all BPL editions. The second on the table, Sabbir Rahman, has 47 sixes.
The T20 specialist has also crossed 11000 T20 runs. He has now 11056 runs in the shorter format.
Gayle finishes as the leading run-scorer in the fifth edition of BPL with 485 runs at 53.88. However, the most runs by a batsman in any BPL edition is 486 by Ahmed Shehzad in 2012.
Gayle previously scored 126* in the Eliminator against Khulna Titans. With scoring 146*, he has taken the BPL top score to another high.
