After suffering a bruised heel in Perth few weeks ago, Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc missed the fourth Test match against England. Reports suggested that he will miss the reminder of the Ashes but the 27-year old pacer has recovered well and he is likely to feature in the fifth and last Test match of the series.
England is having a time which they want to forget as quickly as they can. After suffering a 3-0 straight defeat, when they were looking in with a chance to win the fourth Test, rain spoiled the party. To add misery, Starc is all set to make a comeback in the last test.
However, the Australian selectors now have a pretty tough job to do as there will always remain a question who to drop to give a place to Starc. One of the selector told reporters: “He’s (Starc) really keen to play and he was pretty confident.”
Pat Cummins, the Australian quick, told reporters in Sydney: “He looked like he was bowling quick … now it’s seeing how it recovers. He said it’s got better the last week or two since Perth. So hopefully he gets through today and he’s alright. He’s played a lot of cricket now and he knows his body pretty well and what he can get through. I’m sure they will take a lot of it on his word.”
The fifth and the last Test will begin on 3rd January at Sydney. Australia will be looking to avoid defeat in the last match to make their series a perfect one. On the other hand, England will be looking to earn some pride after a humiliating series defeat. 1 of 1
