Nannu explains reason of dropping Soumya and Taskin

In the recent few series, the performances of Soumya Sarkar and Taskin Ahmed was below average and as it was expected, they have been dropped for the upcoming tri-nation series which starts on 15th January.

Bangladesh Cricket board (BCB) have announced 16-men squad for the tri-nation series on Sunday. Anamul Haque Bijoy, Mohammad Mithun and Abul Hasan Raju have made a comeback and they have taken the places of Taskin Ahmed, Soumya Sarkar and Liton Das.

BCB’s Chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu explained the reason of dropping Taskin and Soumya in the press conference: “Soumya has been playing in all the formats for quite a time now. I have no question about his ability. But as he is not consistent, we have decided to give him a break.”

Nannu also said Soumya will be always in their mind: “Soumya is in our system. If he become consistent again, then we will think about him.”

On the other hand Taskin has been dropped due to his poor performance and to give him opportunity to play in the domestic league: “Taskin was not in form in the South Africa tour. It is now important for him to play domestic matches. That’s why we dropped him.” 1 of 1
