The Test and T20I captain of Bangladesh Shakib Al Hasan has won the ‘Best sportsman of the year’ award of Bangladesh Krira Lekhok Shomiti (Bangladesh Sports Writers’ Association) for 2017. BSPA announced the short list of best sportspersons of the year in 18th of December last year on which there were three contenders including Shakib Al Hasan.
On January 6, the prize has been handed over to respective sportsmen. Playing 7 Test matches in 2017, Shakib scored 665 runs in an average of 47.50. He also bagged 29 wickets in the elite format of the game.
On the other hand four sportspersons of which three were cricketers had been nominated for Popular Choice Award.
Besides that, rewards won by other categories also have been handed over today. Enamul Hossain Rajib won the award of best chess player of the year.
Sonam Sultana Shoma (Best Table Tennis player of the year), Jonaina Ahmed (Best Swimmer of the year), Mohammad Salahuddin (Best Cricket Coach of the year), Mahfuza Akter Kiron (Best organizer of the year – football), Jahir Rayhan (Best Young sportsman of the year) are among other winners. 1 of 1
