Shakib Al Hasan said, “The future generation cricketers in the country do not set Test cricket as their goal; rather they prefer to play the shortest version of cricket. This is happening because T20 cricket offers plentiful financial benefits comparing to Test cricket.”

A significant amount of time in the meeting was spent to discuss the disproportion of pecuniary benefits in different levels of cricket.

Former Australian Ricky Ponting, consenting with Shakib Al Hasan said, “Shakib exampled with several events and troubles of Bangladesh cricket that has long been continued. He also suggested that International Cricket Council has to put control upon the monetary flow in cricket. Perhaps large amount of money drifts where it is to go but doesn’t reach up to cricketers, who knows.”

Financial benefits received by cricketers among Test playing nations contain huge differences. In last fiscal year, Australian captain Steven Smith earned USD1.5 million while Shakib Al Hasan earned USD1 lac 40 thousand. Only Graeme Cremer of Zimbabwe earned less than the Bangladeshi all-rounder.
