David Young – An unsung hero who gave life to Mashrafe’s career

It is quite known to everyone in the cricket world that 34-year old Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has spent half of his cricket career dealing with injuries. Despite of having so many injuries, Mashrafe never gave up and made comebacks after recovering from injuries. [নিউজটি বাংলায় পড়ুনঃ ‘মাশরাফি অসাধারণ মানুষ, অনেক বড় হৃদয়ের’]

But who gave the courage to do that? This is something that the fans all over the world wants to know. Out of the 7 surgeries Mashrafe had, 6 surgeries was done by Australian doctor David Young. Because of his encouragement, Mashrafe was able to make a comeback in International cricket once again.

Mashrafe told: “Almost all my surgeries was done by him. You can say that I am still playing only by the grace of Allah and because of his (David) encouragement. He did my everything. After the operations, he also gave me instructions of what to do.”

He added: “After doing surgeries after surgeries, my knee’s condition was becoming critical. After doing the last operation in 2011, I didn’t face any more problem. Its true that he is a professional doctor but he gave me service wholeheartedly. This is unbelievable.”

Mashrafe had more to say for his loyal doctor: “The condition I have now, I don’t get much confidence if I go to any other doctor. Apart from me, my other team-mates’ knee and back surgeries was also done by him. I can say that he is an invisible friend to Bangladesh cricket.”

Some heroes don’t get the spotlight they deserve and David Young is one of the example of who has gave it all to Mashrafe all over the years to give life to his cricket career. 1 of 1
