Dhoni reaches 400 ODI dismissals as first Indian wicket keeper

Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni reached in another milestone in the third match of the series against South Africa; the wicket keeper marked 400th dismissal in one day international cricket when he stumped out stand in Proteas captain Aiden Markram off Kuldeep Yadav.

Thus MS Dhoni became the first Indian wicket keeper to be listed in the 400 dismissal club and standing at number four in international list. Dhoni played 315 matches to accumulate the showed number of dismissals. He is now behind Kumar Sangakkara, Adam Gilchrist and Mark Boucher.

He took 315 matches to achieve the landmark. Sri Lankan great Sangakkara tops the list with 482 dismissals from 404 matches. Adam Gilchrist owns 472 dismissals while Mark Boucher possess 424 dismissals.

In Dhoni’s match of glory, India claimed the third win in the ODI series against South Africa. Guided by skipper Virat Kohli’s sparkling 160 unbeaten, the visiting team scored 303 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs.

The home advanced well in their chase until wrist spin duo of the Indian camp were introduced. Both Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal strangled the hosts taking 4 wickets each and reduced South Africa to 179 all out with 10 overs to spare in their innings.
