With already losing the Test series and the first T20I, Bangladesh had only one last chance to earn some pride and finish the series with a win. Let alone win, Bangladesh faced yet another humiliating loss by 75 runs in the 2nd and the last T20I.
In their first ever match at the Sylhet International Stadium, Bangladesh opted to bowl first with four debutants yet again. The Sri Lankan openers started off with all guns blazing and the opening partnership was 98 runs before Gunathilaka departed for 42.
But that didn’t stop Kusal Mendis from hitting the bowlers all over the park and he scored 70 off just 42 balls including three massive sixes. Dasun Shanaka’s amazing cameo in the end guided the Lions to a massive score of 210 runs.
None of the bowlers couldn’t make a but it was Nazmul Hasan Apu who has playing his 2nd T20I was the most economical bowlers as he conceded only 28 runs in the batting paradise. Debutant Abu Jayed picked up 1 wicket.
In reply, Bangladesh had a mountain to climb and they looked no where in the game after losing three wickets in the first 5 overs. Except skipper Mahmudullah Riyad’s 41 runs, all the Bangladeshi batsman were in a hurry to go to the dressing room.
Shehan Madushanka who was playing his 2nd T20I picked up 2 wickets with part time bowler Gunathilaka surprisingly picked up 2 wickets in the end to bowl out Bangladesh for just 135 runs and finish things off and also the series with yet another victory.
