After losing their first match in the opening match of 2018’s Pakistan Super League (PSL), Peshawar Zalmi have comeback strongly to secure a comfortable win by 34 runs against Islamabad United.
Islamabad opted to bowl first after winning the toss. Though Sabbir Rahman wasn’t included in the starting XI, Tamim Iqbal opened the innings for Peshawar once again and this time he was back to his very best.
Tamim hammered 39 runs off 29 balls including 2 fours and 2 sixes before getting departed to Andre Russell. Both Tamim and Kamran Akmal (53) helped Peshawar to get a good start and after their dismissals Dwayne Smith (30) and Mohammad Hafeez (30*) contributed equally to help Peshawar to post a massive score of 176 runs.
Except Shadab Khan, all the Islamabad bowlers picked up wickets each with Faheem Ashraf picking up two.
In reply, Islamabad found themselves in trouble right from the word go and kept losing wickets in quick successions. After losing quick wickets, they couldn’t recover from that position and in the end it was Faheem Ashraf once again who saved some reputation for Islamabad with his 54* from 30 balls.
Umaid Asif and Ibtisam Sheikh destroyed the Peshawar’s batting order as they took 7 wickets combinedly which bundled out Peshawar for just 142 runs.
PZ 176/6 (20 ov) | Tamim 39 (29), Kamran 52 (32) | Faheem 2/37
IU 142/9 (20 ov) | Faheem 54* (30) | Asif 4/23, Ibtisam 3/26
