KL Rahul has just hit the fastest fifty in all Indian Premier League editions. He brought up his half-century in just 14 balls against Delhi Daredevils at Mohali.
Kings XI Punjab were set a target of 167 runs to win in the second match of IPL 2018 after Delhi made 166/7 in 20 overs.
In the run-chase, Rahul was off to a flying start. He took 16 runs off Trent Boult in the first over. He took 11 from Mohammed Shami in the next over. The third over was a real productive one as he smashed Amit Mishra for 24 runs. He hit 466440 in the leg-spinner’s over.
The fifth ball of that over brought Rahul’s half-century which took only 14 balls. This is the fastest IPL fifty by any batsman and the joint-third in T20s. When Rahul reached fifty (51*), KXIP’s score was 52/0 in 2.5 overs. The other run was scored by his opening partner Mayank Agarwal.
Rahul got out on 16-ball 51 to Trent Boult. His innings comprised 6 fours and 4 sixes. Punjab put on 73/2 in the powerplay.
