Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is having an amazing season in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) with his new team Sunrisers Hyderabad and his side is at the second position at the moment with same points as the Chennai Super Kings.
After spending 7 years with Kolkata Knight Riders, Shakib got a new franchise and he took no time to become an integral part of the team. Sunrisers Hyderabad have played 8 matches so far and Shakib has played in all of them.
In a recent interview with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Shakib talked about his personal life, the struggles, his likes and dislikes and how he feels in India.
Some people tend to have normal dreams just like everyone while some people tend to have different things on their mind. Some gets support from their family while some gets totally the opposite. The number one all-rounder belongs to the second category and he is thankful to his parents for helping him and let his dream turn into reality.
“You know from a middle class family, since our birth we tend to think we have to study hard, get a good career, become a government employee, a doctor or an engineer, that’s the dream everyone had normally. I had something different on my mind and I was lucky that my parents allowed me to live up to my dream and I’m thankful to them because without their support I couldn’t have play cricket. A lot of credits also goes to my teachers who helped me. I am thankful to them as well.”
What cricket means to Shakib?
“It means everything to me, to be honest. That’s my first love. Everything happens to my life is related to cricket.”
The number one all-rounder on his journey with SRH so far:
“Obviously I am very happy to be part of SRH. Lot of credit goes to the coaching staff. The way they have selected their players, no one had to face any kind of problem. It feels like we are a family. I am happy so far the way I have contributed to the team. Obviously there are some areas where I can improve,” Shakib said.
“All in all, I am very excited for the tournament. Obviously we have played 7 games, there is a long way to go. But, I am in a very good shape and in a happy mode,” he added.
Shakib on what’s the best part of India:
“Its the culture that I like most because every state you go, you find different culture. It allows me to adjust in all these cultures and know all the different culture, its very exciting to me. You come to Kolkata, its a different atmosphere, you come to Hyderabad, its a different atmosphere, and then you go to Mumbai, its a totally different atmosphere,”
“So many areas and different cultures. You get to see all the cultures and meet all the people around and get to know them. This is the most fun part I think.”
Lastly Shakib asked his fans to support him till the end:
“I hope you guys will support me all my career and the important phase of the tournament is coming up. It will be important how we can carry this momentum. If we can carry this momentum till the knockout stage, we will have a very good chance to win the trophy.”
