The three T20Is will be played at Dehradun’s newly-built Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. BCB officials visited the venue and saw some grass on it. But Mahmud doesn’t have too much of headache.
“I don’t think it will be a spin-friendly wicket as we were informed but our officials who went there that there was grass on it. The grass might be cut off as seven matches will be played there before our series starts. There might be bounce. And if it’s a spin-friendly wicket then it’s good for us too. It’s not like that they spin very well. We are ready to play on any track,” he told reporters on Monday.
When asked about spin twin Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, he replied, “We’re not thinking about them much. We still have to bat 12 overs apart from those two spinners.”
Bangladesh are ranked tenth in the rankings whereas new Test nation Afghanistan are eighth. Mahmud reflects that winning the series is important for Tigers in order to improve in rankings.
“Winning the series is very crucial for us. We will go ahead in rankings if we win the series (only if 3-0). We have the capability to beat Afghanistan. We are a good team at any condition as we are a skillful team. Our batting-bowling are better than them.
“Yes, they have world-class spinners but their whole team is not balanced. If we maintain our discipline, play good cricket, then I believe we can beat Afghanistan at any time on any team,” he added. 1 of 1
