After winning the Asia Cup and the first T20I, Bangladesh continued their fine form to win the T20I series against Ireland with one match still to go.
After winning the toss, the hosts Ireland elected to bat first. Though Clare Shillington departed early, Celelia Joyche played a handsome knock before departing to Fahima Khatun for 60 runs. And, this was the highest individual score for Ireland in the end.
Bangladesh picked up some quick wickets and created inroads for Ireland in the middle overs. Ireland couldn’t peg themselves back into the game and in the end they managed to scored 124 runs losing 8 wickets.
Jahanara Alam, who picked up fifer in the first T20I bowled yet another impressive spell. She picked up 2 wickets along with Nahida Akhtar while Rumana Ahmed and Fahima Khatun picked up 1 each.
In reply, Bangladesh started their innings exceedingly well. They lost Ayasha Rahman early but Shamima Sultana kept battling it out for the team. Along with Fargana Haque, they built up an all important partnership which made the way for Bangladesh easy to chase down the score. Shamima (51) and Fargana (36) departed right when it was looking an one sided game.
Ireland came back into the game after picking up quick wickets in quick successions. The match kept getting tighter in the dying minutes and Bangladesh needed 6 runs from the last over. When pressure was building in everyone, Sanjida Islam showed she doesn’t know what pressure means. In the very first ball of the last over, Sanjida smacked a six to guide her side to a stunning T20I series win in Ireland.
