Jofra Archer may be eligible to play 2019 World Cup for England

The Barbados-born dashing all-rounder Jofra Archer’s dream of representing England may be come true if the reports are to be believed. Archer, who is currently eligible to play for England in 2022, may be play for England earlier than expected.

Jofra Archer could play International games for his home country West Indies but he decided to wait until he represent England at the International level. The England Cricket Board set a seven-year residency period for those foreigners in 2012. The players should spend atleast 210 days a year in the UK to be eligible.

But the ECB may change the rules to equal the ICC’s four-year residency period. If it happens, the all-rounder Jofra Archer might play 2019 World Cup and The Ashes for England. The 12 members of the ECB would have to agree to speed up the process.

The 23-year-old born and raised in Barbados before representing West Indies Under-19 team. His brilliant performance in the Big Bash League earned a contract in Indian Premier League. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 7.2 crore in the IPL Auction. Arhcer has played 10 games and bagged 15 wickets in the 11th season of Indian Premier League. 1 of 1
