Afghanistan whitewashed Bangladesh team in the three-match Twenty20 International series. After losing first 2 games against Afghanistan, Bangladesh had a chance to win the final game to avoid a whitewash.
When Bangladesh needed 30 runs in just 12 deliveries, Mushfiqur Rahim smashed five consecutive fours. And it looked like the Bangladesh would avoid the whitewash against Afghanistan. In the last over, the Tigers needed a gettable nine runs off six deliveries with six wickets in hand.
The No.1 T20I bowler, Rashid Khan bowled the last over to defend 9 runs and picked settled Rahim’s wickets in the very first ball. Bangladesh needed to four runs in the last delivery to avoid the whitewash.
The on-strike batsman Ariful Haque swung the bat towards long-on and it was not the cleanest but the ball looked to cross the boundary rope. However, the Afghanistan player Samiullah grabbed the ball and flicked it into the playing area.
In the meanwhile, the Bangladesh pair had already completed two. But, the throw reached Mohammad Shahzad before they completed their third run and Shahzad disturbed the furnitures to win the thrilling encounter.
After winning the thrilling encounter, the Afghanistan players did the famous Naagin dance. The dance was made by Bangladesh players and became popular during the Nidahas Trophy in Sri Lanka.
