Washington Sundar ruled out of T20I series

International Cricket, News, England vs India 2018, India, Washington Sundar

India’s tour to England is yet to start, but the visitors have already faced enough blows. After Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the T20I and ODI series against England, the all-rounder Washington Sundar will also not be available for the three-match T20I series against the same opponent.

Sundar was the part of Indian squad in the T20I series against Ireland. But he injured himself during a training session ahead of the first T20I game in Dublin.  He couldn’t walk properly and was seen limping off the ground with the team physio and trainer giving him support.

He was playing football with the rest of the team during an optional training session. It is understood that the spinner landed awkwardly and hurt his ankle. Following scans, they revealed that he will require a couple of weeks to recover himself from the injury.

The Indian team management decided to give a chance to all players in the T20I series against Ireland. But, Washington Sundar did not get an opportunity due to injury and will miss the T20I series against England as well.

Sundar made his International debut against Sri Lanka in December 2017. Against the same opponent, he made his One Day International debut. In the absence of Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, the all-rounder got a chance to travel to UK along with the Indian team.

The Indian team will play three T20 Internationals, three One-Day Internationals and five Test matches against England in their den. They are looking at the series as their preparation for the next year World Cup which will take place in England.
