The Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan launched his attack on Afghanistan’s leading spinner Rashid Khan during the one-off test between India and Afghanistan in Bangalore. Shikhar Dhawan welcomed his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate in style as he smashed 13 runs off his very first over in the longest format of the game.
Dhawan started to attack Rashid Khan to put pressure on Afghanistan’s best spinner. He kept attacking Rashid Khan in the following overs as well. The number one T20I bowler conceded 120 runs for just 1 wicket at the end of day 1.
The leg-spinner lost his line and leaked runs at a higher economy rate after being thrashed by Shikhar Dhawan in his initial overs. While Dhawan was smashing Rashid Khan at one end, Murali Vijay destroyed other’s bowling at another end.
However, Shikhar Dhawan wrote his name in the history books after a brilliant century in the first session of the historic Test match against Afghanistan in Bangalore. Dhawan became the sixth player to register a century before the lunch on Day one of the Test match.
In fact, Dhawan became the first Indian batsman to score a century before lunch on the first day of the Test game. The previous most was 99 against Virender Sehwag against West Indies in 2006.
