Brathwaite ton takes Windies lead past 200

Windies have crossed a lead of 200 runs after the first session of the second day of the first Test at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua. The hosts are 228 runs ahead with seven wickets in hand.

Windies finished the first day with 201 runs for 2 wickets after they bowled Bangladesh out for 43 runs in just 18.4 overs, the lowest Test total of this century.

Part-timer Mahmudullah Riyad started the day with Kamrul Islam Rabbi. Overnight batsmen Kraigg Brathwaite and Devendra Bishoo still made Bangladesh wait for wickets on the second day. The duo put on 52 runs for the third-wicket before the nightwatchman Bishoo was bowled for 19 by Rabbi with the second new ball.

Brathwaite anchored the innings with his seventh Test hundred coming off 224 deliveries, his second ton against Bangladesh. He is yet to be dismissed as he is on 289-ball 121* runs including 11 boundaries. Shai Hope is unbeaten for 14 runs from 21 balls.

The Caribbeans are at lunch at 271/3 with a growing lead of 228 runs. Bishoo’s wicket has been the only success in the second morning.
