India’s predicted playing XI for the 1st ODI against England

The Indian team has begun the England tour with the series victory. They won the three-match T20I series 2-1 and impressed everyone with their performance. After dominating the England team in the first T20I, lost the next encounter on July 6. However, with the help of Rohit Sharma’s century, the Indian team won the third T20I by 7 wickets.

The ODI series will be an interesting one as both the top ranking teams will face each other. While England ranked number one with 126 points, Indian team sits at 2nd spot with 122 points. The Indian team should whitewash the hosts to replace England in the ODI rankings.

Undoubtedly, both India and England are one of the most successful teams in the ODI history. While the England team treat the ODIs as the extended version of the T20 format, the Indian team play it by keeping wickets before launching an attack on the opposition in the last 10 to 15 overs.

The first match of the ODI series will be played on July 12 at Trent Bridge. Here we take a look at India’s predicted playing XI for the first One Day International game against England.

Openers: 

Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma: 

Shikhar Dhawan, who was in full flow during the IPL tournament and Ireland series, managed to score just 19 runs in the three-match T20I series against England. But, he can thrash any bowling attack once he gets his form. Dhawan, who has 4361 ODI runs to his name, scored 865 runs at a strike-rate of 100 in England.

Rohit Sharma has struggled to score the runs in the first match of the T20I series. He then scored 32 in the 2nd T20I before smashing a century in the third T20I game at Bristol. Rohit Sharma has played 174 ODIs and scored 6494 runs. He has accumulated 533 runs in 12 games at a strike-rate of around 80 in England.
