25 security vans escorted Lahiru Thirimanne on his return journey
Not less than 25 vehicles escorted Sri Lanka’s ODI captain Lahiru Thirimanne when he left the team hotel to the airport to catch a flight to Dubai, en route to Colombo on Thursday early morning.
Sri Lanka’s ODI captain Lahiru Thirimanne is not a part of the T-20I squad and left team hotel at 4.30 am, confirmed the team manager Ashantha de Mel.
“After playing the 3rd and final ODI (which Sri Lanka lost) on Wednesday, the team returned to hotel after midnight. There were same number of 25 security vans for the departing captain”, he said over telephone from Karachi.
Two new members-Lahiru Madushanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa-who were not the members of the ODI squad have arrived in Karachi for the three T-20Is to be played in Lahore.
“They were also escorted by 25 security vans”.
“They did not come to watch the last ODI but preferred to stay in the hotel”, the manager further added.
The entire team left for Lahore (PIA flight) on Thursday evening.
The team is to stay in the same brand hotel in Lahore.
