4 star cricketers who never played a Cricket World Cup
The 12th edition of the biggest tournament, the ICC Cricket World Cup has started from May 30. Even though England, India and Australia are favourite to win the World Cup, the other teams would fight to touch the coveted trophy. At the end of this ongoing World Cup, there are a few star cricketers who will announce their retirements from cricket.
It is one of the biggest moments of their career if they represent their country in the biggest tournament. While some managed to make it to the World Cup squad, there are some popular cricketers who failed to make it to the squad. Here are the four-star cricketers who never played a Cricket World Cup in their career.
#1 VVS Laxman
The former Indian cricketer, VVS Laxman is one of the greatest cricketers in the world. He was the backbone of the Indian team during the late 90s and early 2000s especially in the longest format of the game. He has played a lot of great knocks to his name. Even though he had good records in the Test format, he failed to continue the same form in the 50-over format.
The right-hander had played 86 ODIs and scored 2338 runs at an average of about 30. He had a chance to play the 2003 and 2007 World Cup but he was not considered for the selection due to his slow batting. He ended his cricket career without playing a World Cup.
