Mumbai lost their openers – Evin Lewis and skipper Rohit Sharma – early in the innings to some good swing bowling by Chennai fast bowlers with the new ball. Youngster Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav revived the hosts adding 78 runs for the third-wicket.

Suryakumar slammed 29-ball 43 runs including 6 fours and a six. Ishan played a handy knock of 40 off 29 with 4 fours and a six.

The Pandya brothers, Hardik and Krunal, finished the innings in style helping Mumbai post a competitive total. They brother duo added 52* runs for the fifth-wicket. MI put 165/4 on board.

Krunal hammered 41* runs off 22 deliveries comprising 5 fours and 2 sixes. Hardik, who was struggling with a sore foot, made 22* off 20. Shane Watson took two wickets for 29 for CSK.

In reply, Chennai did not have a good start. Ambati Rayudu got a start, scored 22 but lost his wicket as leg-spinner Mayank Markande caused a lot of problems to the CSK.

Dhoni failed on his outing. Kedav Jadav retired hurt soon which turned out to be even worse for them. Mustafizur Rahman got his first wicket by sending back Ravindea Jadeja with an off-cutter.

Mumbai had the full control of the game. But then took off Dwayne Bravo. He changed the game with the bat in the death overs although he got out in the 19th over. He smashed 30-ball 68 runs including 3 fours and 7 maximums.

Chennai needed 27 off the last two overs. Jasprit Bumrah leaked 20 of them in the 19th including taking Bravo’s wicket. As the ninth wicket fell, Kedar came out to bat with hamstring injury. Fizz bowled three dot balls in the first three deliveries of the last over.
