The plans and bowling according to the plans is very important: Mahmudullah

The Chittagong leg of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has started off in a thrilling fashion. Mahmudullah Riyad’s Khulna Titans stunned dynamic team Rangpur Riders to mark their place af top of the table.

The two teams looks very different on paper. Where Rangpur counts on the star foreign players, Khulna have a balanced mixture of local and foreign players and it did paid off in the end.

Khulna only managed to score 158 runs in a track which looked a batting paradise. It was never enough to guarrente a win when the opposition team has two of the best T20 batsman in the world.

But in the end, Khulna’s tremendous bowling turned things around and Gayle & McCullum both were dismissed for less than 20 runs.

In the press conference, when Mahmudullah Riyad was asked what was the plan for Gayle and McCullum, he said: “If I reveal my plan then it will be leaked. The plan was not to bowl in their strong areas. It was important to take early wickets. If we wouldn’t have done it, then the match wouldn’t have been so close.”

Dismissing batsmen like Gayle and McCullum early is always a massive boost to any team and the skipper of Khulna Titans always thinks the same: “Yes obviously. Confidence increases if you keep winning matches. We know that they are hard hitting batsman. The plans and bowling according to the plans is very important.”
