What is the role of a technical director? Sujon has explained it all in a recent press conference. He said: “There will be no head coach in this series. The duty of a technical director is same as the coach. Just the name is different. My work will be same.”

Sujon also expressed his happiness for working with the Bangladesh team: “Whenever I get any responsibility of Bangladesh cricket, I try to do that well and for me the role is not important. I work for Bangladesh team, that’s the main thing for me. I will grab that opportunity any day. As much as I have cricket knowledge and coaching knowledge, I will try my best to use that experience in the upcoming series.”

He added: “I think we are a very good team and I hope we can start the new year in a good way.”

After the departure of Chandika Hathurusingha, no new coach has been selected yet and the team is likely to play the tri-series without any head coach, informed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The board is in search of a high profile coach and they want to take their time before finalizing anyone. The team also believes they can play the upcoming tri-series without the head coach, said by the senior cricketer Mahmudullah Riyad.
