A nightmare day and galore of records for Rashid

The hosts England have tamed the newbie Afghanistan including Rashid Khan with a mammoth total in match number 24 of the World Cup.

A nightmare day and galore of records for Rashid
A day that Rashid Khan and co will surely want to forget very soon. After England elected to bat first, it was on the card but who could have expected that the records will tumble one after another. While Rashid grabbed all the unwanted records, English skipper Eoin Morgan had a day to cherish with the bat.

With the absence of Jason Roy due to injury, James Vince got the opportunity to open with Jonny Bairstow. However, he couldn’t make a good use of it as he departed for 26. Bairstow (90), who looks in hot form played a firing innings yet again, but missed out on a well-deserved hundred for only 10 runs.

The same thing goes as well for England’s Test captain Joe Root, who scored a quick 82-ball 88. But it was the captain, who spot the limelight from everyone with a thunderous innings of 148 runs off just 71 balls including 4 fours and 17 mighty sixes.

Dawlat Zadran and skipper Gulbadin Naib picked up three wickets and it was Rashid, who had the most miserable day. He conceded 110 runs in only 9 overs and couldn’t grab a scalp.

This is the most expensive bowling figure in World Cup history and also the highest runs conceded bowling 9 overs in ODI history. He is also the first ever spinner to conceded 100 runs in ODI history.
