A record that Mehidy didn’t want

Mehedi Hasan celebrates a wicket

The spinners of Bangladesh has always faced difficulties in the foreign conditions. Apart from Shakib Al Hasan, the stats of the spinners are not appealing.

Bangladesh are playing with only one spinner Mehidy Hasan against South Africa in the ongoing test at Potchefstroom. The former under-19 captain who took 19 wickets in two test matches against England in home  has failed so far in the foreign conditions.

In his first away series he bowled 37 overs and conceded 116 runs with no wickets against New Zealand. The starting against South Africa for Mehidy has been even worse and he made a record which obviously he doesn’t want under his name.

At Potchefstroom in the first innings, Mehidy bowled 56 overs and conceded 178 runs which is the most by any Bangladeshi bowler without getting any wicket.

In the past, three bowlers have given more runs than him. Mohammad Rafique and Sohag Gazi both conceded 181 runs, Taijul Islam conceded 179 runs. But all three of them got at least one wicket.
