A team bowled out for 14, lowest total in T20I
The China women’s cricket team recorded the lowest total ever in Twenty20 Internationals after they were bowled out for a paltry 14 runs.
In the Thailand Women’s T20 Smash tournament on Sunday, China women faced an embarrassing 189-run defeat against UAE in the particular match.
Deciding to bat first, UAE piled up a mammoth 203 for 3 in the Group B game, their highest ever total in the shortest format of the game.
Esha Oza and Chaya Mughal laid the foundations for the big total by sharing a 121-run stand for the opening wicket.
20-year-old Oza smashed her personal best of 82 off 62 balls. After her departure, Mughal fell for a 38-ball 33 in the 14th over.
In the third wicket, Kavisha Kumari and Namita D’Souza added 51 runs off 18 balls.
In reply, China’s innings lasted for just 48 minutes in which 10 overs were bowled. As many as six batters failed to open the scoring while the top-score was four.
The margin of victory is now the largest ever in women’s T20Is. The previous record was held by Namibia who had lost by 179 runs against Lesotho in August 2018.
Last year, China men team also suffered a crushing defeat against Nepal. Nepal bowled out China for just 26 before chasing down the total inside 1.5 overs in the ICC Regional Qualifier for the 2020 World T20.
