AB De Villiers picks his all time best IPL XI
Former South African skipper AB De Villiers has been the one of the big fishes ever played in Indian premier League ( IPL). Following the ongoing trend the former skipper has revealed his all time best IPL XI in a recent Interaction with Cricbuzz.
Since the beginning of IPL in 2008, AB de Villiers has been an inevitable part of the IPL. He represented the Delhi Daredevils at his first edition, where he batted alongside the Indian opener, Virender Sehwag. He named Sehwag as an opener in his all-time IPL XI. The former Proteas skipper picked up the prolific opener, Rohit Sharma to complete the opening pair. Interestingly, he didn’t picked the Jamaican batting monster Chris Gayle.
Unsurprisingly, he picked his skipper at RCB, Virat Kohli for number 3 position. The Indian skipper was also a part of IPL from its inception. Both Villiers and Kohli are a familiar sight for RCB fans, ABD used to make partner with Kohli in the middle of the batting order.
The former skipper picked Ben Stokes and MS Dhoni to complete the lower middle-order batting. He picked MS Dhoni as a Wicketkeeper batsman who is a life presence for CSK in their three title-winning seasons. While English all rounder Ben Stokes has proved his worth in the big stages. Ravindra Jadeja and Rashid Khan were named as the two-spin bowling options in the playing XI. that both of them are more than capable both with the bat and ball.
Villiers picked Bhuvneshwar Kumar alongside his national teammate Kagiso Rabada in the pace attack. Rabada has been a familiar face in the cash rich league as he picked over 31 wickets in just 18 matches. He picked Jasprit Bumrah to complete the squad. Bumrah, who has been hailed as one of the talents unearthed by the IPL, has picked 82 wickets in 77 appearances.
