To AB de Villiers, IPL is better than World Cup!

The swashbuckling batter shocked the world announcing his retirement from international cricket in May 2018 when the ICC World Cup 2019 was around the corner.

He, therefore, engaged in playing franchise cricket leagues, especially the IPL. Backing his decision, de Villiers raised high appreciation for the money making Indian Premier League, saying this is even better than the World Cup regarding the competitiveness.

“Nothing comes close to the IPL, to be honest,”

de Villiers said during an event lunch.

“I know I am sitting in India and busy playing in the IPL, so it’s easy to say. But I have played in quite a few (tournaments) now across the world. I think it’s better than the World Cup,” he said.

“It’s the most incredible tournament to be part of. It wasn’t always the case. The first five years were nowhere close to where we are now. It’s so intense, so fast, and the following is just incredible,” AB de Villiers said.

The 12th edition of the ICC World Cup will start from May 30 in England and Wales with host England to play the against South Africa in the opening match at the Oval.
