Abbas flies to third spot in ICC Test rankings
Mohammad Abbas, the hero of Pakistan’s series clinching over Australia, now has starred the ranking show.
High flying Abbas who showcased a whirlwind performance against Australia in Abu Dhabi claiming a 10-fer in the second Test, has been rewarded with a career best spot in the latest ICC Test ranking for bowlers.
On Sunday, he uplifted eleven places to move to the third spot; James Anderson and Kagiso Rabada are only above him now.
In the first inning of Australia, he led the way claiming 5 wickets for just 33 runs helping Pakistan to take a 137 runs lead. with 5/33 to help Pakistan take a 137-run lead.
Abbas, 28, then ripped through the Australia’s top and middle order in the second innings, figuring 5/62 while they were on chase of a massive 538 runs to win. Pakistan registered a massive 373 run victory and took the two match Test series 1-0.
it was his first 10 wicket haul in a match preceded by four fifers earlier. With 829 points on the card, he rose all the way from 14th to 3rd place in the latest ranking.
Abbas became the tenth bowler in the history of Pakistan cricket to cross the 800-point mark which he broke in only 10 Test matches.
“I have played first-class cricket and a lot of things have happened before my eyes,” said Abbas.
“I suffered hardship in my life, so my focus is on cricket and that has made me mature.
“My focus is to play cricket and focus on my fitness. I want to keep my feet on ground, that has been my life and it has matured me,” he said.
