Abdur Razzak, a name not to be faded away

There was a time when Bangladesh were used to be a completely spin dependent team which was the start of rising of today’s Bangladesh. Right then one of the regular names of the players was Abdur Razzak. This slow left arm orthodox spinner was the witness of many historic wins and many unforgettable moments. He has served for several years.

Not only that Razzak is the first player of Bangladesh to play in Indian Premier League and was the only one Bangladeshi player to play in the inaugural season of IPL in 2008. He is the first bowler of Bangladesh to take 200 wickets by picking up 5 wickets in 3rd ODI against Srilanka in 2013. He also has the record of having the fastest fifty for any Bangladeshi Batsman which was done against Zimbabwe, 2013.

He is a bright star in the first class and any other version of international cricket. But due to some bowling style related problems and unsatisfactory performance his career had not been that smooth. His name was being faded away with the rise of other bright stars of today.

In this National Cricket League, the result of Khulna vs Barisal match could be assumed. Barisal needed to touch 371 runs having 10 wickets in hand. But Abdur Razzak, the captain of Khulna has made the change. With his spin magic Barisal lost by 239 runs which is a big margin.

Barisal had a good start of 58 runs from the opening partnership of Rabbi and Rafsan. But the break through was brought by Moinul Islam by his left arm spin bowl. First three wickets were taken by him and the rest job was finished by Razzak. Though Rabbi tried to fight back having 88 runs total but got out by Razzak as the last wicket.

Razzak got his 29th five wickets. He achieved 9 wickets in this match. He has no door left open to come back to national team but his performance reminds us of a great past days of him and his name not to be faded away.
