ACC to hold meeting in February regarding Asia Cup
Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will conduct a meeting in February to discuss the hosting rights of Asia Cup in Pakistan.
An ACC source told as quoted by ANI,
“ACC will have a meeting sometime in February to discuss issues related to the hosting of the Asia Cup this year. This year Pakistan is the host so it is Pakistan’s call if they want to host the tournament or not.”
Conflict have risen as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared they would not in any means will travel to Pakistan to participate in the multi-nation competition although they have literally no objection regarding the neighboring nation to host the tournament.
The ACC source denied to go through in any negotiation between the two countries in this issue. He therefore said, “I cannot make a comment on this, this is a matter between India and Pakistan”.
While BCCI insisting to shift the tournament in any neutral venue like they did in 2018, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) even threatened to boycott ICC T20I World Cup scheduled to host by India if India would not visit Pakistan to play the Asia Cup.
PCB CEO Wasim Khan said, “It is not the prerogative of the PCB or the ICC to change the host as it was the decision of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
“We are currently considering two venues to host the Asia Cup. If India doesn’t come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, we would also refuse participation in the 2021 T20 World Cup there,” he added.
