Afghanistan unsure of Rashid’s availability in final

Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan suffered a hamstring injury while fielding during the game against Bangladesh on Saturday.

Afghanistan have been hit with a huge blow as their skipper Rashid Khan’s availability in the final is in doubt as he suffered a hamstring injury against Bangladesh in the last game before the final.

Rashid left the field after sustaining the injury to his left hamstring in the eighth over of the second innings while fielding. But he came back again and bowled three overs. However, he was failing to run properly and limped while bowling.

He picked up two wickets after returning but didn’t look at his best due to the injury. Afghanistan team manager Nazim Jar Abdur Rahim Zai later told reporters at the post-match press conference that he isn’t sure at the moment if the skipper can play or not.

“He is doing well and let’s see what’s happening. We will have two or three days for recovery. I hope it’s not that serious because he is our captain and main player and we will monitor him tomorrow and the day after (before taking any decisio),” he said.

The final between Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be on Tuesday at the Mirpur Shere-e- Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS).
