Confirming the news, the Chairman of Afghanistan Cricket Board. Nasimullah Danish said: “The training camp aims is to prepare the team for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh where they are scheduled to play three one-day series followed by ICC Intercontinental games.”
Shafiqullah Stanikzai, CEO of Afghanistan Cricket Board said, “The idea of leaving two weeks before the start of the event is to enable the players to acclimatize with weather as well as playing some trial matches.”
In the mean time, though Afghanistan are ranked below Bangladesh in ODI rankings and lost to the Tigers on several occasions in the past, Afghan skipper Asghar Stanikzai isn’t wary of the possible humiliation they could face in Dhaka, rather aims to upset the Tigers at their own den.
“It is true that we lost to them in the previous matches, but things have changed; we are going there a much stronger side and this is our time to avenge the defeat,” he said.
“We have enough time to prepared well, so we don’t fear them. Our mission is to win, and InshAllah (Allah willing) we will win every match. We are now concentrating on sharpening our batting and bowling skills; and this is one of the most important areas of the game, so we have to work a little bit to accomplish our goal,” he added.
