There have been many changes in recent times in the Bangladesh T20 team. Among the senior cricketers, there is none now except Shakib Al Hasan. Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim have been replaced by Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan Sohan. Still, there is no chance of comparison of the young cricketers with the experienced cricketers- thinks the BCB president.
Nazmul Hassan Papon, however, expressed confidence in the present team. Papon said, “I like the game of some cricketers very much. Litton, Sohan, and Afif’s batting are good to watch. This does not mean that they will score runs every day. Look at Miraz's game – he’s doing well in each category.”
But these talented cricketers should be given time to develop themselves further, urged the board chief, “Those who are playing well should be given time. Afif has not yet become Mushfiqur or Mahmudullah, nor Sohan. Litton has yet to get close to Tamim. They have potential.”
In this regard, Papon gave the example of Sri Lanka, which played with one team for a long time and now won the Asia Cup. Meanwhile, one of the main bowlers of the team, Mustafizur Rahman is not in the rhythm. While the pace bowlers are in rhythm, Mustafizur's lack of rhythm is a cause for concern. But Papon is optimistic, Mustafizur will soon be seen with a familiar face.
He added, “There is no one confirmed in the main XI from the pace bowling department. I don't know who will play in the XI now. We have many options in the pace unit now. Mustafizur is undoubtedly our number one choice. We think he will make a comeback, he should. I haven't seen the major power in recent matches which he had previously. But he'll be back, he'll be fine.”
