Afridi lashes out at young Naveen-ul-Haq
Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi expressed his contradiction and glared towards youthful Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq for his violent conduct. The pacer showed this kind of behavior towards another pacer Mohammad Amir in the match between Galle Gladiators and Kandy Tuskers in Lanka Premier League (LPL) on Monday (November 30).
Whatever the field game, there is usually no opportunity to see the fiery face of Afridi. The 40-year old all-rounder, who always smiles, has been respected by his teammates on the field and off the field. A few days ago, Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim Iqbal also said that Afridi is like a guardian of the team in franchise cricket. But this time the cricket world also saw Afridi’s angry face.
Amir is playing in Afridi-led Galle Gladiators in this year’s LPL. However, Galle lost the match by 25 runs. Kandy’s 21-year old fast bowler Naveen became the centre of discussion after the match.
The Afghan cricketer repeatedly tried to argue and tease Amir during the match. Afridi did not ignore the issue. On the contrary, Naveen’s behaviour with the senior Amir was eye-catching.
At the end of the match, the players of the two teams were shaking hands, Afridi was shaking hands with everyone with a smile. His expression changed as he confronted Naveen. Afridi was caught on TV camera, saying to Naveen, “Kya Hua? [What Happened].”
Naveen, however, showed rudeness and treated Afridi badly. The issue immediately went viral in the net world. Popular Pakistani journalist Saj Sadiq claimed that Afridi also told Naveen, “Son I was scoring 100s in international cricket before you were born.”
