Kohli bludgeoned a flamboyant 72 off 52 balls as India successfully chased down their target of 150 with one over to spare in Mohali to lead the three-match series 1-0 after the opening game at Dharamsala was washed out without a ball being bowled.

Shahid Afridi is impressed with Kohli’s efforts to score runs at a brisk pace consistently. The former reserved some highest praise for Kohli calling him a great and had also wished him good luck for his future endeavours.

“Congratulations Kohli! You are a great player indeed, wish you continued success, keep entertaining cricket fans all around the world,” tweeted Afridi after the match.

Shahid Afridi was reacting to ICC’s congratulatory tweet for Virat Kohli in which the international cricket body had acknowledged the India skipper achieving the feat of averaging 50+ in the all three formats for the second time in his fruitful career.

Indian captain who has been statistically very good in numbers has 50+ average in all formats of the game. His average in Tests is 53.14, 60.31 in ODIs and 50.85 in T20Is. Interestingly, this is not the first time Kohli has accomplished this feat. He averaged over 50 in 3 formats even in 2018.

The run-machine who went on to complete his 22nd T20 fifty in 71 games, held his nerves and stook firm alongside Shreyas Iyer, on 16 as the latter hit the winning four, at the other end.

Kohli became the highest run-scorer in T20 internationals with 2441 runs after surpassing his deputy Rohit Sharma who was out for 12 and has 2434 runs from 97 games.
