Afridi selects Aamir Khan and Tom Cruise for his biopic
Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi, chooses the actors he feels could play his role in case a biopic is made about his life. The former skipper from Khyber Agency picked the dashing Tom Cruise and Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan to do his role.
Afridi wishes for Cruise to feature in the English biopic. On the other hand, he wants Aamir to play in the Urdu version.
The 39-year-old made a short appearance in a movie, named ‘Main Hoon Shahid Afridi’ back in 2013. He had a short cameo at the end of the movie where he was seen, giving some advice to a youngster, who wishes to shine in life. The movie did reasonably well in the box office, earning PKR 5.2 crore, which is around US$ 3,70,000 net worth.
Afridi didn’t have the greatest of numbers, but he was a crowd puller due to his attacking style. He made his debut for Pakistan way back in 1996 and later smashed a 37-ball century in ODI cricket which was unbreakable for many years. He also opened the batting few time. Though he lost his wickets, he never stopped going for big scores.
In his career, he scored over 11,000 runs with 11 centuries and 51 half-centuries to his name. The 40-year-old was no mug with the ball either, picking up 541 wickets with 10 five-wicket haul and eight four-wicket hauls in all formats of the game. He last played for Pakistan in the 2016 edition of the World T20. His last international match was for the World XI in 2018.
However, Afridi still continues to show his magic on the pitch. Earlier this year, he plied his trade for the Dhaka Platoon in the 2019-20 edition of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). During the tournament, he picked up some crucial wickets and also scored some fruitful innings with the bat.
Besides, he was a part of the Multan Sultans in the fifth edition of the Pakistan Super Leagues. He stood up for his team with solid performances at crucial moments. In his career, he has also gotten himself tangled in a few controversies after opining on certain sensitive matters including political criticism.
