Afridi stars in Comilla’s second win

Comilla Victorians have clinched their second victory in the tournament as they hand five-wicket loss to Rajshahi Kings in match no.10 of Bangladesh Premier League 2019 at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur.

Imrul Kayes was sent out as Comilla’s captain at the toss in absence of Steve Smith, who is currently in Australia to treat his elbow injury. Liam Dawson replaced Smith in the XI.

Comilla decided to bowl first. Rajshahi Kings came up with a surprise at start of play. Skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz opened the innings with Mominul Haque.

Miraz delivered with the bat once again, scoring 17-ball 30 runs with 6 boundaries. Meanwhile, Rajshahi’s other top-order batsmen – Mominul Haque, Soumya Sarkar and Mohammad Hafeez stumbled.

Zakir Hasan made 27 in course of Rajshahi’s batting collapse. The Kings put on somewhat competitive total to bowl at. Isuru Udana’s 32 off 30 helped Rajshahi post 124 in 18.5 overs.

Shahid Afridi was sublime with ball as he grabbed 3 for 10. Abu Hider Rony, Mohammad Saifuddin and Dawson took two wickets each.

Anamul Haque opened Comilla’s innings with Evin Lewis as Tamim Iqbal stayed out of the ground for a while which forced him to bat later. The new opening stand was quite productive – 65 runs in 7.1 overs. Lewis scored 28 off 21.

Tamim came out to bat at no.3. He faced 25 balls for his 21 runs. He accidentally ran Anamul out at the non-striker’s end with a straight drive which Udana brushed onto the stumps.

The right-hander Anamul top-scored with 40 runs off 32 balls which helped Comilla take the target down with eight balls to go.
