Akbar captain in ICC’s team of the tournament

ICC (International Cricket Council) has announced the team of 2020 U19 Cricket World Cup which includes players from six nations.

The tournament ended in a crunch style with Bangladesh beating India by three wickets (DLS) in a high-voltage Final match in Potchefstroom, which marked a new champion.

Akbar Ali played a captain’s knock of 43* runs through which Young Tigers got over the line. The wicket-keeper batsman has been named captain for the team of the tournament. He led Bangladesh to a terrific campaign in which they were unbeaten.

The team includes other two Bangladeshis – Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Shahadat Hossain. Mahmudul scored 184 runs at an average of 46. He scored a century in the semi-final against New Zealand. Shahadat scored 131 runs at exactly 131 average.

There are three players from runners-up team India as well. Yashasvi Jaiswal, the man of the tournament, amassed 400 runs at 133. Ravi Bishnoi almost had Bangladesh in the Final. He grabbed the most 17 wickets at an average of 10.64 while his team-mate Kartik Tyagi took 11 scalps.

The other youngsters are from Afghanistan (Ibrahim Zadran and Shafiqullah Ghafari), West Indies (Nyeem Young and Jayden Seales), Sri Lanka (Ravindu Rasantha) and the 12th man from Canada, Akil Kumar.
