Amir will comeback stronger than ever – Azhar

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir, who is spending a terrible phase in his career has been backed by former Pakistan bowler Azhar Mahmood. He believes the left-arm pacer will comeback stronger than ever after the break from International cricket.

Amir has been dropped for the ongoing Test series against Australia and it turned into more worse when it was announce on Thursday that he has been dropped from the T20I squad too.

The fast bowler has been wicket-less in the last five international matches he played including the Asia Cup and as a result of that, the selectors are forced to give him a break from International cricket.

After serving the ban, Amir made a fairy tale return to cricket and despite bowling after so many years, it took only some time to get his rhythm back. He made wonders in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 specially in the final against India and he was a crucial part in helping Pakistan to lift the trophy.

However, his form started to fall down after that and his bowling didn’t seem to be effective as before. After a disappointing performance against Zimbabwe and in the Asia Cup, he was dropped and has been given a break from the International cricket.

And former fast bowler Azhar believes this break will only make him a better and a stronger player.

“He is not taking wickets and that pressure to perform is creating issues for him. This is then causing some self-doubts on his own ability which is why him not playing in the next series against Australia will give him that much-needed break from this high pressure,”

“Amir can now go back to domestic cricket in a relaxed frame of mind and work on some technical issues such as his wrist position. We have told him exactly what he needs to do to remedy his problems and he will work on fixing the issues when he plays in domestic cricket and I believe he will come back to international cricket as a better bowler,” he added.
