The opening batsman Hashim Amla is not in his prime rhythm not only in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 but also in the recent series he played for South Africa both in colour clothes as well as white clothes.

His recent form has created some speculations over his retirement from the game as some of his teammates are retiring at the end of the tournament, in the likes of Imran Tahir and JP Duminy.

When Amla was asked about this matter, he said he wants to spend some more time in the middle.
On being asked whether he wants to carry on, he replied, “If selected.”

“I don’t know. Another World Cup is four years away. It’s a long time. Once this World Cup is done, (I’ll) get home and chill with the family… and yeah. I’m feeling really good, fit.”

When the captain Faf du Plessis was asked about Amla future in the side, he said “He said he wants to keep going, so, you know, I think you leave it to a great player to make that decision himself.”
