Ashraful, Nasir in ESPNCricinfo Dream Team
Even though he was away from Bangladesh national team for the most part of last decade due to his involvement in spot fixing, Mohammad Ashraful is still part of Bangladesh’s “Dream XI”, according to ESPNCricinfo.
In the ESPNCricinfo Dream Team which is for Bangladesh’s best white-ball, another surprising entry is that of Nasir Hossain. Once Nasir was considered as the best finisher Bangladesh ever had, but he could not carry on with his run of form, and has not donned a national jersey since January 2018.
However, there aren’t much surprises from ESPNCricinfo besides the aforementioned two. They have selected Mashrafe Bin Mortaza as the captain of the XI, and one could hardly argue against the decision.
Mushfiqur Rahim as the wicketkeeper is well-deserved. There are also the other three members of Bangladesh’s fab five – Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad.
Liton Das, who has been in great form of late and is being considered as the mainstay of Bangladesh batting in future, is in the XI as Tamim’s opening partner. The three-pace attack includes Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain (12th man) alongside captain Mashrafe. Abdur Razzak and Mohammad Rafique are the two specialist spinners in this XI.
