Ashwin leaves IPL 2021

Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has decided to leave ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday to support his family amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

The cricketers are announcing to leave the IPL in a hurry. Earlier, Australia pacer Andrew Tye of Rajasthan Royals, left for his home country without playing any match.

The DC star also played for Delhi last night against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He tweeted late at night after the match that he would not take part in the IPL anymore.

Ashwin said in a tweet, “I would be taking a break from this years IPL from tomorrow. My family and extended family are putting up a fight against COVID-19 and I want to support them during these tough times. I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you Delhi Capitals.”

Delhi Capitals also responded to Ashwin’s tweet and showed full support from them. “Extending our full support to you in these difficult times, Ashwin. Sending you and your family all the strength and prayers from all of us at Delhi Capitals,” they tweeted.

Ashwin also changed the name of his Twitter account thinking of the people of the country. Currently his official and verified Twitter account is names ‘Stay home stay safe! Take your vaccine’.

Delhi played 5 matches till now in this year’s IPL and Ashwin played in all of them. However, his performance wasn’t upto the mark as took 1 wicket in these 5 matches.
