Australia announce squad for final Test
Just after the end of the third Test match, Cricket Australia (CA) have announced their squad for the fourth and the final Test against India.
Despite a horrendous performance in the MCG Test, nobody has been dropped from the squad. However, leg spinning all-rounder Marnus Labuschagne has been added to the squad for the final Test.
Australia captain Tim Paine said at the post-match press conference in Melbourne –
“Marnus has been added to the squad, he’ll come with us to Sydney. We’ll get up to Sydney and have a look at the conditions. From what we’re hearing, it’ll probably spin quite a bit so once we see that for ourselves, we’ll start to think about the best combination for ourselves to win that Test.”
“We think we’ve got the best group of players available to us at the moment and we’ll pick the best combination for that group that we think will win the last Test,” he added.
Paine also denied to rule out moving Aaron Finch to the middle order –
“I think there’ll be a lot of things on the table in the next day or two and I’ve got some thoughts on what I think but I think i’ll share that with (Justin Langer) and a few other guys before I share it here. We’ve got the best group of players available to us at the moment and we’ll pick the best combination out of that group that we think will win this last Test.”
Squad: Tim Paine(c), Aaron Finch, Marcus Harris, Usman Khawaja, Shaun Marsh, Peter Handscomb, Travis Head, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh, Peter Siddle, Marnus Labuschagne.
