Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken another step towards completing the work of Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium in Purbachal. After a long selection process, the Australian firm 'Populous Architecture' got the job of building this most modern stadium for Bangladesh cricket. BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon gave this information at the press conference after the board meeting on August 4 (Thursday).
The sixth meeting of the current board of directors of the organization was held at the BCB office on Thursday. One of the most discussed issues was to determine the manufacturer of Sheikh Hasina Stadium. BCB has chosen the two Australian firms, Cox Architecture and Populous Architecture, which have been verified earlier for this work.
After the board meeting, BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon said, "Both are very reputable institutions. They have worked in almost every famous stadium in the world. Technically and financially Populous is very advanced. In view of that, the Board has appointed Populous design and consulting as a consultant.”
In 2019, BCB planned to build a modern stadium called Sheikh Hasina International Cricket Stadium in the east of Dhaka. Due to the coronavirus, the progress of the stadium work was stopped, but now it has regained full speed.
