The two IPL superstars- Avesh Khan and Venkatesh Iyer will join Team India after the completion of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) as the net bowlers alongside 21-year-old pacer Umran Malik. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed the matter on Tuesday (October 13).
Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Avesh has been in tremendous form in both legs of IPL 2021. After stunning performances in India in the first leg of IPL 2021, he was included in the squad of India’s England tour. But he came back to the country in the middle of the tour after injuring his thumb. Then he recovered from injury and came back for DC in the second leg in UAE and continued his form. He’s the second-highest wicket-taker till now in this year’s IPL with 23 wickets.
The inclusion of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Iyer is a bit of a surprise as he bowls often. He’s established himself mainly as an opener. He’s been a revolution for KKR in the second leg of IPL 2021 because he’s nowhere near the main XI in the first leg. He has proved his worth as he scored 265 runs in 8 matches at an average of 37.85 and took 3 wickets in bowling.
India team will unite after the IPL ends and play their first warm-up match against Australia on October 18 and second warm-up match against South Africa on October 20. Their T20 World Cup mission will start on October 24 against their arch-rivals Pakistan.
