Waqar Younis was clearly one of the greatest pacers to have graced the sport for Pakistan. He had all the tools and ingredients to outsmart the opposition batsmen and always knew how to mount pressure and keep the batsmen in check especially in crunch situation of the game.

Waqar Younis represented Pakistan national cricket team in 87 Tests and 262 ODIs. Waqar’s sensational ability to reverse swing the ball at quick speed helped him get 373 Test wickets and 416 ODI wickets in his career. He is nicknamed ‘The Burewala Express’.

The right-arm fast bowler Waqar Younis formed a terrific bowling partnership with left-arm seamer Wasim Akram. Together, they both went on to become one of the most feared bowling combos in the history of cricket. Currently, Waqar Younis is the bowling coach of the Pakistan national cricket team.

While Azhar Ali tagged Waqar a “legend”, he had pointed out that the 48-year-old has a different style of coaching compared to Misbah-ul-Haq, who is the national team’s head coach and chief selector.

“I discuss things with him (Waqar) regarding bowling. Misbah is calmer. That’s his way of working, he is cool. Waqar used to do it in a different way. Both are big names in Pakistan cricket. Waqar bhai is a legend,” Azhar Ali was quoted as saying by PakPassion.
