Bairstow-Warner masterclass seals yet another win
It was David Warner and Jonny Bairstow show once again at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium as Sunrisers Hyderabad seal a comfortable victory over Kolkata Knight Riders.
The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has sometimes been all about the unstoppable duo David Warner and Jonny Bairstow, a duo which were almost enemies before the tournament.
The dynamic duo has shown their master class again to secure a vital win against the Kolkata Knight Riders ( KKR) in match number 38.
After winning the toss, Hyderabad elected to bowl first. Kolkata were off to a flying and firing start courtesy of Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine’s thunderous hitting. They put 42 runs in the opening stand in only 2.4 overs, but the departure of Narine for 25 pulled Hyderabad back into the game.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Khaleel Ahmed’s clinical breakthroughs bought some quick wickets and Kolkata fell apart after the departure of opener Lynn for 51. In the end, Karthik’s men managed to score 159 runs in their 20 overs.
In reply, the famous duo once again gave Hyderabad a smooth start and it kept going and going. Warner and Bairstow put 131 runs in the opening stand in only 12.1 overs and both reached to their fifties. Warner departed for a well made 67 off just 38 balls while Bairstow made sure he stays unbeaten and took Hyderabad over the line with his incredible 80* off just 40-ball knock.
